A baby was strapped to my back as one crawled inside the playground. I spent 12 hours days, for months, sanding and stripping wallpaper with one child. Ha! The whole thing was beginning to take shape, however it wasn't quite finished. It was going to take a lot of money effort and my personal favorite brands to furnish this home. For my budget to remain in good shape, I went out with my 3 boys looking for deals at estate sales. Our routine for the week was to walk from Thursday through Saturday through estate sales and garage sales buying a mixture of old and new pieces while I spent the weekdays painting sanding in the driveway. It was kind of similar to this... This is where my obsession with restoring antique furniture started. No matter what, the home was decorated. On the streets I was able to rent a tiny area and then sold a few objects. I eventually had numerous pieces that I did not know what to do and outgrew the space. There were open houses at my house that saw more than 1 000 visitors came through on one weekend, and purchase anything they wanted on the ground floor. Growing Days is the result from this. Apart from my successful business, I also had the pleasure of growing our family. Finding the balance was important to me. I wished to be a mom and also a successful business owner. Growing Days just seemed to be the right fit. In 2013, my sweet daughter Nora was born. She is our fourth child. This was an excellent direction for my business, however, I needed an escape. I decided to step back and stay in my home with my kids. That was precisely what I was looking for. The phone rang again after several minutes. I was getting calls from people asking for help with decorating their homes and interior renovations. Most of them were people who visited my home during my furniture open houses. I began to take on clients at a time going at my own pace but it didn't take time before I was running multiple accounts and was running a complete home renovation business. If you had said to me that this company of mine could become the basis of a television show that airs on the DIY Network I probably would have laughed. In the present, as I reflect on the situation I am laughing.
