Bush picked Cheney on July 20, 2000, as his running mate. Bush praised his judgment and insight. Dick Cheney is a former chief of the staff of presidents, and he also worked as a member of Congress and was Director of the Department. Cheney is someone with integrity and is loved by both Republicans and Democrats. Cheney stated that he views his work in of the Bush administration as a frank, but discrete adviser. Cheney, who accepted the Republican Vice Presidential Nomination in 2007, said his hopes were for having a President who can reach across political lines to engage with opposition with trust and with a shared goal. Richard Bruce Cheney was born in Lincoln Nebraska on January 30 1941 the son of Richard Herbert Cheney and the former Marjorie Lauraine Dickey. When he turned 13 old, he emigrated with his family from Nebraska to Casper within the Western part of Wyoming in Wyoming, where his father was director of the local soil conservation district for the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
